NHS Summary Care Record

Care professionals in England use an electronic record called the Summary Care Record (SCR). This can provide those involved in your care with faster secure access to key information from your GP record.

In the upcoming months Surgeries across the country will be contacting their most vulnerable or poorly patients asking them for permission to upload additional information to their Summary Care Record.

Availability of NHS products

As you may be aware there are some changes to products which are now available on prescription. In February 2017, NHS Bath and North East Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group decided to stop funding prescriptions for certain products to all but the most vulnerable patients. Dr Willcocks received some really lovely feedback last week, which came at a time where the surgery is under extreme pressure. Sadly the feedback was anonymous but we would like to say a huge thank you for your positivity and touching comments. 

The team are under extreme pressure, as you are probably aware from the news, and everyone really tries their best to provide a good service to our patients. It is really rewarding to receive such positive feedback - it made our day - thank you.

 

New Guidance Regarding Online Access to Medical Records 

Update from Wessex LMC: New NHS guidance recommends that the surgery can give parents access to their childs medical record up to the age of 11 years old unless clinically necessary. Each case will be reviewed on an inidividual basis.

Flu vaccination 2016 17

So far a whopping 1800 of our patients have been vaccinated against seasonal flu!

Electronic Prescribing

We are now able to offer a new electronic prescribing service to all patients.  If you would like to save time -  and trips to the surgery to collect your prescription - you can nominate any pharmacy of your choice and we will send your prescription to them electronically.  Please let us know which Pharmacy you would like to nominate as your preferred choice and we can add this to our system. 

If you also choose you can order your prescriptions on-line which will mean that you only have to make one visit to the pharmacy to collect your medication on their due date. (Please ask at reception for details).

New Telephone Appointment Booking Facility

During November we will be introducing a new telephone appointment booking system at the surgery so that our patients can quickly and easily book or cancel an appointment with us, 24 hours of the day, 7 days a week. Using the system, patients can also change, check or cancel their appointment at their convenience and avoid any unecessary queues on the phone during busy periods.

The new telephone facility is one more way to book an appointment with us, in addition to the online booking form on this site and by dropping into the surgery.

The telephone system has been designed specifically for GP surgeries and is very easy and intuitive to use, by just following the simple prompts. We do appreciate however that some people will have specific queries or may prefer to speak to our receptionist, so there is the option to be put through to them directly.

Electronic Patient Records - Statement of Intent

New contractual requirements came into force from the 1st of April 2015 requiring that GP practices should make available a statement of intent in relation to the following IT developments.

1) Referral Management

2) Electronic Appointment Booking

3) Onlineordering of repeat prescription

4) Summary care record viewing

5) GP2GP transfers

6) Patient Access to their medical record

 

Dr Roy and Partners offer all patients at Elm Hayes Surgery, all of the above requirements set out in the new GP contract relating to IT developments.

 

 

Named accountable GP 2015/16

From the 1st of April 2015, the practice is required under the terms of the latest GP contract to allocate all patients a named accountable GP. This GP has responsibility for the co-ordination of all appropriate services required and ensure they are delivered to each of their patients where required, based on the GP’s clinical judgement

For convenience your named accountable GP will be the named doctor you are registered with.

We have been advising all patients of their named GP in a variety of ways including a note on repeat prescriptions, by text message, email, at point of registration for new patients and on any correspondence.

Having a named GP does not prevent you seeing any other doctor in the practice. Your named GP will not be available at all times and if your needs are urgent, you may need to discuss them with an alternative doctor.

This notice applies to all patients at Elm Hayes Surgery including children. Patients over 75 have already been informed of their own GP.

Please note: there is no need to telephone the practice for this information unless you are unsure who your registered GP is.   Please inform us if you wish to change your accountable GP.

Failure to Attend - During January 2016

We had 176 patients who failed to attend their booked appointment during the month of January.

We desperately need these appointments to offer to people who really need them.  Please let us know if you are unable to attend your appointment. If you are not able to come to your appointment please contact us or cancel your appointment online so we can give that appointment to another patient.
